Soldered wireframe structures at DMS Paris

The first workshop we ever ran as Fologram was at the Design Modelling Symposium in Paris in 2017 where we fabricated small and intricate wireframe structures from copper plated steel. These structures were assembled from stock material with arbitrary soldered joints, allowing participants to model just about any wireframe geometry in Rhino and use this as the only guide during fabrication. Because the material (copper coated TIG rods) and soldering irons are both very cheap and readily available, this approach lends itself well to short workshops or DIY projects with students, though soldering joints is far more time consuming and challenging than tack welds with a MIG.
